Andrey Rublev has suffered a slide in the world rankings amidst an underwhelming clay court season. He dropped out of the top 15 for the first time since January 2020, after early exits in Monte-Carlo and Barcelona, along with a third-round defeat to Alexander Bublik in Madrid as he failed to regain his title. He received a first-round bye in Rome but lost in the next stage to Fabian Marozsan.
The Russian finally found some form last time out in Hamburg but still fell to a disappointing defeat in the final, losing to Flavio Cobolli in straight sets. He takes on Lloyd Harris in round one.
Harris beat Marin Cilic in the final stage of qualifying to enter the main draw. His form leading up to Roland Garros has been poor, as he failed to make it out of the qualifiers for Barcelona and Madrid, and lost in the first-round of a Challenger event in Prague.
Rublev won their two previous encounters at Adelaide and Wimbledon in 2020 and 2021 respectively and is good value for a comfortable victory in the first-round here.
