Andrey Rublev vs Arthur Fils prediction
Andrey Rublev advanced through to the third-round with a 7-6 6-1 7-6 win over Adam Walton. Rublev now has six wins from his last seven matches after making the final of the Hamburg Open last week and has found some form after a tough clay season for the most part which has seen him drop outside of the top 10 of the world rankings.
He takes on Arthur Fils after he delighted the home crowd with a thrilling five set win over Jaume Munar. The Frenchman seemed to be struggling with back injury as he went a break down in the fifth but he staged a comeback, coming through to win 7-6 7-6 2-6 0-6 6-4 in a match which totalled four and a half hours.
They’ve played each other twice before, with the head-to-head currently at 1-1. Fils leads 1-0 on clay, having beaten Rublev 6-2 6-3 in Monte-Carlo just last month. Though the Frenchman will receive wonderful support from the partisan home crowd, he is likely to still be feeling the effects of the previous round while question marks remain about the severity of his back problem.
Rublev has looked solid in the opening rounds, and we predict he’ll make it through.
