Anastasia Zakharova vs Anna Bondar prediction
Anastasia Zakharova advanced through qualifying to reach the main draw in Miami. She secured two straight set wins, defeating Louisa Chirico and Rebecca Sramkova. She was able to do the same at Indian Wells and then won in round one against Ella Seidel in dominant fashion before a straight sets loss to Emma Raducanu. She competed in the WTA 125 event in Austin last week and reached the quarter-finals, her best result of the season so far.
Anna Bondar is her first-round opponent. Bondar ended a three-match losing streak in the first-round of Indian Wells as she beat Elsa Jacquemot in straight sets. However, she would fall to defeat in the next stage of the competition against Karolina Muchova. She has reached the quarter-finals of one event so far this season, but that was at the Hobart International back in January.
This is the first WTA meeting between the pair, but they have faced each other in qualifying twice, with the head-to-head at 1-1. They are evenly matched, but Zakharova has momentum on her side after recent victories.
