Anastasia Potapova vs Victoria Mboko prediction
Anastasia Potapova picked up a fine win in the first-round of the China Open as she defeated Katerina Siniakova in straight sets. Siniakova was heading into the tournament on the back of a strong showing in Seoul where she made the semi-finals, but Potapova won the first five games of the match and edged ahead in the second to win 6-2 6-4.
Victoria Mboko will make her return to the tour in the second-round after receiving a bye, having not competed since her first-round loss to Barbora Krejcikova at the US Open. Mboko was one of the highlights of the North American summer swing, as she shocked the tennis world by winning her home tournament, the Canadian Open. The 19-year-old has since shot up to 23 in the world rankings.
Mboko needed to rest after a busy summer and should be ready for the Asian swing as she looks to round off her breakthrough year. Potapova will be a threat to the Canadian, but Mboko is a fine young player and deservedly should start as the favourite.
