Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova is on a four match losing streak and hasn’t won on clay so far this season. Her last victory came at the Abu Dhabi Open in early February. The Russian will be extremely low on confidence having gone winless on tour for three months. Katie Boulter picked up her first ever clay court win on the WTA Tour in the first-round of the Madrid Open, coming from a set down to beat Katerina Siniakova 4-6 6-2 6-1, However, an error-strewn performance in her next match led a heavy defeat against Jasmine Paolini, as the British number one lost 6-1 6-2 to the sixth seed.
These two have met once before in their respective careers, with Pavlyuchenkova winning 7-6 6-4 in Linz at the beginning of last year but this will be their first match against each other on clay.
Neither player is in form ahead of this one and we could see this encounter going all the way to three sets.
