Alycia Parks enters the draw in Stuttgart as a qualifier. She began her clay court campaign at the Charleston Open, reaching the second-round before a straight sets loss to Iva Jovic, and another defeat followed in the first-round of the Linz Open to Dalma Galfi. Parks reached the quarter-finals of the Ostrava Open, her best result of the season so far, while she troubled Coco Gauff in the third-round of the Miami Open last month, taking the first set before ultimately going on to lose in three.
She faces Noma Noha Akugue in round one. The German picked up a title on the ITF circuit in Helsinki last month, which is already her second of the season. This is her first tour-level match of the campaign, and the 22-year-old does not have much experience on the WTA, having notched up just the one previous victory two years ago.
Parks is not as convincing on clay, but she is still the clear favourite for this match.
