Aliaksandra Sasnovich enters the main draw as a qualifier. She is not in the best of form overall, and her last main draw victory occurred all the way back in July when she won her first-round match at Wimbledon. She was defeated in round one of the US Open by 17-year-old Iva Jovic. Her best result on the WTA Tour was all the way back in February when she made the semi-finals of the Transylvania Open.
Janice Tjen is another qualifier after victories over Lucrezia Stefanini and Viktoriya Tomova. The Indonesian is in very solid form and is closing in on the top 100 of the world rankings. She advanced through the qualifying stages of the US Open to make her Grand Slam debut, securing a victory in the first-round before a loss to Emma Raducanu. She then followed that up with her best result on the WTA Tour as she reached the final in Sao Paolo without dropping a set.
Tjen should head into this match with confidence, after 12 wins from her last 15 matches overall. She is a strong contender to win this one.
