United Arab Emirates were on the verge of elimination after two rounds of Group C fixtures that saw them trail Egypt by a point. But victory in their final game against Kuwait combined with Egypt’s loss to Jordan saw the UAE advance through over the Pharaohs, setting up this encounter with Algeria. The Group D table toppers are coming off the back of consecutive wins that saw them rack up seven goals in the process.
With no clean sheets so far in the tournament, the expectation is that United Arab Emirates are up against it here, with Algeria’s frontline capable of inflicting some serious damage that will make it very difficult for the UAE to outscore them and advance through. They are a stronger team offensively and that should be reflected in the scoreline.
