Algeria began with a frustrating 0-0 draw against Sudan, but perhaps that turned out to be the wake-up call that they needed. Their following game saw them thrash Bahrain, beating them 1-5 in Al Rayyan with doubles from both Redouane Berkane and Adil Boulbina. Yassine Benzia was also on the scoresheet from the penalty spot as Algeria gave their goal difference a massive boost.

It would take a huge swing in goal difference for them not to make it, but Algeria won’t want to take the chance.
