Alexei Popyrin vs Tommy Paul prediction
Alexei Popyrin hadn’t won a match at Roland Garros since 2019 leading up to this edition of the tournament but the Australian has made his way into the fourth-round this year without dropping a set. He defeated Nuno Borges 6-4 7-6 7-6 last time out, taking the second set tiebreak 13-11 after saving two set points and finally taking one of his own after five failed attempts.
Tommy Paul got through his second consecutive five set battle to reach the fourth-round for the first time. He beat Karen Khachanov 6-3 3-6 7-6 3-6 6-3 and has plenty of recent wins under his belt having also made the semi-finals of the Italian Open two weeks ago.
The head-to-head is 1-1 but they’re yet to face each other on clay. Back-to-back matches may have taken a toll on Paul, but he seems to be finding a way to win at the moment and is in his best run of form of the season so far. Popyrin has done well to reach this stage but hasn’t faced anyone of real note and we predict his time in Paris will come to an end at the hands of the American number two.
