Alexander Zverev vs Learner Tien prediction
Nearly a year ago, Alexander Zverev was just one set away from a first French Open and maiden slam triumph but Carlos Alcaraz would come back to defeat him in five sets. He will hope to go one better this year and starts his campaign against Learner Tien. Zverev’s form has not been particularly inspiring since reaching the final of the Australian Open, though he did pick up another title in Munich at the BMW Open.
The German suffered a loss in the quarter-finals of the Italian Open last time out to Lorenzo Musetti as he failed to retain his title. Tien has only registered just one win in the main draw of a clay tournament and that came in the first-round of the Italian Open against Reilly Opelka. He lost in the first-round of the Geneva Open last time out.
Tien showed promise in the earlier part of the year, and that involved a run to the quarter-finals of the Mexican Open which included an impressive win over Zverev, their only match against each other so far.
Despite Tien’s promise, he has offered nothing on clay to suggest he will be a threat to Zverev. The German is good value to make a strong start.
