The top seed now faces Flavio Cobolli for a third time after the Italian powered to a 6-3 6-2 success over Vit Kopriva.

Zverev has won both of the previous meetings in straight sets, including a 6-2 7-6 6-1 victory in their maiden tussle on the clay of Roland Garros last year.

The German is fully focused on a return to the final in his homeland and has shown real steel when necessary so far this week.

Cobolli will have his moments, but Sascha should have the edge once again.
