Alexander Shevchenko defeated Dusan Lajovic in straight sets to reach round two of the French Open for the third year in a row. He only qualified for the main draw as a lucky loser but he was dominant from the start and never looked back, winning 6-2 6-4 7-6 against the Serbian.
Ethan Quinn is up next after his opponent Grigor Dimitrov was forced to retire from the fourth Grand Slam in a row. The Bulgarian had gone two sets up but his movement worsened as Quinn wrapped up the third. Dimitrov required treatment on his thigh but decided he couldn’t continue before the beginning of the fourth.
Both of these players are ranked just beyond the top 100 of the rankings and got through the qualifying stages. It will likely be a close one but Shevchenko was in the better form of the two heading into the tournament, having made the quarters of a Challenger in Bordeaux recently. We lean towards him making the third-round of a slam for the first time.
