Alexander Blockx vs Alexander Zverev prediction

Alexander Blockx continued his strong run of form as he advanced to the third-round of the Italian Open after beating Tallon Griekspoor. The Belgian, who enjoyed a breakthrough tournament in Madrid by making it the semi-finals, came from a set down to win 6-7 (5) 6-3 6-4. Blockx was not broken on serve throughout the match.

He now takes on world number three Alexander Zverev for the second time in the space of a week. Zverev, who won this event in 2017 and 2024, defeated compatriot Daniel Altmaier in straight sets. It was not the strongest of displays from the three-time Grand Slam finalist as he was broken when initially serving for the first set and also went a break down in the second. Nevertheless, he came through to win 7-5 6-3.

These two faced each other in the semi-finals of the Madrid Open last week, with Zverev winning 6-2 7-5. Blockx is likely to make it difficult for the German, especially if he serves as well as he did against Griekspoor, but Zverev is a commanding favourite once more.

Alexander Blockx vs Alexander Zverev tip: Alexander Zverev to win 2-0
