Aleksandar Vukic vs David Goffin prediction
Aleksander Vukic is without a win in his last three matches. He lost in the first-round of the Winston-Salem Open in the lead up to the final major of the year, then going on to lose to Jenson Brooksby in five sets at Flushing Meadows. He resumed his campaign in the Davis Cup but lost to Raphael Collignon despite taking the first set in a crucial winner-takes-all clash, as Australia crashed out. Vukic showed promise at the start of the year with a third-round finish in Melbourne at the Australian Open but he has only managed the feat once more on the ATP Tour.
He faces David Goffin in Hangzhou. The Belgian is also in poor form, with four losses from his last five matches. He did win his first-round match at the US Open but then went on to lose heavily to Lorenzo Musetti in round two. Goffin did enjoy some fine results earlier in the year, including a victory over Carlos Alcaraz in Miami, but his form has taken a huge slide ever since his return from injury.
These two are evenly matched with the head-to-head at 1-1. Vukic won their first encounter in Brisbane right at the start of the season, but Goffin exacted revenge in Miami as he came from a set down to win, defeating Alcaraz in the match after. Both players are struggling in terms of form and confidence, and this could quite easily head to a deciding set.
