Aleksandar Kovacevic vs Valentin Royer prediction
Aleksandar Kovacevic suffered an early exit at the US Open as he lost in the first-round to Coleman Wong in straight sets. The American showed promise at the beginning of the North American summer swing as he reached the final in Los Cabos, but he has struggled since, with five defeats in his next seven matches. Nevertheless, he has also reached another final on the ATP Tour in Marseille earlier in the year and has two Challenger titles to his name in 2025.
Valentin Royer is his first-round opponent. Royer enters the main draw after qualifying victories over Charles Chen and Eliot Spizzirri. He is up to his best ranking of 88 in the world, after a fine year on the Challenger Tour, which has seen him make four finals and win two titles. He made his Grand Slam debut at Roland Garros this year and has gone on to make the second-round at both Wimbledon and the US Open.
These conditions should suit Kovacevic’s game, with his flat groundstrokes and strong serve. Royer is clearly improving as a player but the American is favourite to advance.
