Aleksandar Kovacevic vs Luca Nardi prediction

Aleksandar Kovacevic suffered an early exit at the US Open as he lost in the first-round to Coleman Wong in straight sets. The American showed promise at the beginning of the North American summer swing as he reached the final in Los Cabos, but he has struggled since, with five defeats in his next seven matches. Nevertheless, he also reached another final on the ATP Tour in Marseille earlier in the year and also has two Challenger titles to his name in 2025.

His first-round opponent in Hangzhou is Luca Nardi. Despite a very strong showing in Cincinnati, which saw Nardi advance to the round-of-16 from the qualifying stages, his time in New York was short-lived as he was thrashed by Tomas Machac in the first-round. The Italian has struggled to sustain a consistent run of form this season, and he is now ranked 85 in the world.

This is their first match against each other on the ATP Tour, though Nardi did win earlier on in the year in Estoril on the Challenger Tour, defeating Kovacevic in straight sets on clay. These conditions may suit Kovacevic’s flatter groundstrokes, while he does have the stronger and more reliable serve. There’s little to separate the pair but Kovacevic may just have enough to advance.
