Alejandro Tabilo vs Francisco Cerundolo prediction
Alejandro Tabilo extended his winning run to five matches with a crushing victory over Pablo Carreno Busta in the first-round of the Italian Open. The Chilean was dominant throughout, winning 6-2 6-1. Tabilo won a Challenger event in Aix-en-Provence last week, while he also advanced to the final of the Rio Open earlier this year. Tabilo is a former semi-finalist at this event, achieving the feat in 2024.
He now takes on Francisco Cerundolo. He was unable to make his second quarter-final at a Masters 1000 event this season as he lost to Alexander Blockx at the Madrid Open. Cernudolo won his home event in Buenos Aires in February, along with a semi-final appearance in Santiago.
This should be a compelling second-round match between two players who excel on the surface. Cerundolo is the favourite, but Tabilo is a dangerous competitor, especially when he is given the opportunity to dictate a lot of the rallies.
