Jaume Munar will face Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in an all-Spanish showdown in Washington.

The world number 50 disappointed the home support as he took down American Marcos Giron 7-5 6-3.

Munar will now hope repeat his win over Foki on the hardcourts of Hong Kong earlier this season when he triumphed 4-6 6-3 6-3.

The pair have met on three other occasions at a lower tier on clay with Davidovich Fokina winning two of those encounters.

The 12th seed is aiming for a strong run in the US capital as he aims to try and crack the top 20 for the first time.
