Deportivo Alaves are performing better than they had been expected to do so in pre-season as they take on a busy but still entertaining Celta Vigo side to Mendizarrozza.

Alaves preview: Improved Alaves

With former Celta Vigo boss Eduardo Coudet at the helm, Deportivo Alaves managed to narrowly avoid the drop last season but they have performed a lot better this season as they begin the return to La Liga action sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table.

The Basque outfit did, though, head into the November international break on the back of a slender 1-0 loss to struggling Girona at Montilivi a couple of weeks ago due to a 16th minute strike scored by Ukraine international midfielder Viktor Tsygankov.

Celta Vigo preview: Silky Celta

Claudio Giraldez replaced Eduardo Coudet and has done an impressive job at Celta Vigo with an entertaining and attacking style of football that managed to qualify them for the UEFA Europa League last season with a seventh placed finish.

Having been frustrated with too many draws in the opening couple of months of this campaign, the Galicians have discovered some form, albeit they did suffer a thrilling 4-2 loss to defending champions Barcelona at Balaidos in their most recent outing.

Alaves team news: Nothing fresh

Alaves welcome Celta with no fresh injury concerns or suspension issues and so the hosts will be able to name an unchanged eleven for this one this weekend.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Antonio Sivera; Jonny, Tenaglia, Victor Parada, Yusi; Calebe, Antonio Blanco, Denis Suarez, Carles Alena; Mariano, Toni Martinez

Unavailable: Garces (Disciplinary)

Questionable:

Celta Vigo team news: Several doubts

Celta head to the Basque Country with plenty of injury doubts for this one as the likes of Oscar Mingueza, Williot Swedberg and Hugo Alvarez are all potentially sidelined.

Predicted XI (3-4-3): Radu; Manu Fernandez, Starfelt, Marcos Alonso; Yoel Lago, Hugo Sotelo, Ilaix Moriba, Sergio Carreira; Ferram Jutgla, Borja Iglesias, Pablo Duran

Unavailable:

Questionable: Carlos Dominguez (Injured), Oscar Mingueza (Injured), Javi Rueda (Injured), Swedberg (Injured), Hugo Alvarez (Injured)

Alaves vs Celta Vigo prediction

Alaves have played a much better style of football under the management of Eduardo Coudet, and that would have been the whole point of his appointment. They have been a lot more effective this season and now come up against the entertainers of La Liga, with the visitors having a lot of options now to rotate quite a lot. Both teams scoring would appear a good bet for this one in the Basque Country.

Alaves vs Celta Vigo tip: Both teams to score
