Al Ettifaq vs Al Ahli prediction

On the opening day of the 2025/26 Saudi Pro League season, Al Ettifaq, now managed by Saad Al Shehri, earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Al Kholood at home. After taking the lead early on, former Blackburn Rovers man John Buckley pegged Al Ettifaq mid-way through the first-half before Georginio Wijnaldum won the game for the hosts.

They now face one of the so-called ‘big four’ of Saudi Arabian football, Al Ahli, who managed to win the AFC Champions League against the odds last season, despite a general domestic underperformance under Matthias Jaissle. They edged to victory on the opening day with a 1-0 defeat of newly-promoted Neom.

Home advantage and an opening day win will give Al Ettifaq confidence to take the game to Al Ahli, and it should be an entertaining watch in which both teams scoring seems a good bet.
