Ajla Tomljanovic vs Viktoriya Tomova prediction
Ajla Tomljanovic made it through qualifying at the Italian Open but still lost in the first-round, losing in straight sets to Varvara Gracheva. This was preceded by early exits in Madrid and a 125 event in Lleida. The Australian’s best run on clay this season was in early April, as she reeled off two wins before a third-round loss to eventual winner Jessica Pegula. She’s in desperate need of a strong run here if she is to enjoy a successful French Open.
Viktoriya Tomova is in even worse form, with no clay court wins to her name on the tour this season. She lost in the first-round of Charleston, Madrid and Rome. The Bulgarian has been disappointing all season, with barely anything of note except a run to the quarter-finals at the Winners Open in early February.
Tomljanovic is not in the best of form but has still shown how capable she can be on the surface and has recent wins under her belt. We back her to defeat the out-of-form Tomova in straight sets.
