The prediction

The West Coast Eagles will attempt to break their long losing streak to begin the season when they take on the Melbourne Demons on Saturday night. The Eagles were no match for Hawthorn in Melbourne last week and fell by 50 points. 

The Melbourne Demons recorded their second victory of the season defeating the Richmond Tigers by 20 points at the MCG on Thursday. Their performance will not have inspired their supporters to any great extent. It was a scrappy display against a side that is also struggling.

Melbourne will again look for inspiration from its senior players in Christian Petracca and Max Gawn. Petracca had 28 touches and two goals while Gawn’s work rate around the ground was first class.

Liam Ryan kicked three goals for the Eagles against the Hawks. He was well supported by young gun Harley Reid however the Eagles are yet to prove they can play four full quarters. 

We think the Demons can record their third victory of the year in a place where they have tasted much success in recent years, including their 2021 Grand Final victory.
