Villarreal vs Atletico Madrid prediction

Marcelino has led Villarreal to successive UEFA Champions League qualifications for the first time ever and yet supporters of the Yellow Submarine have grown frustrated with their style and so he will depart this summer. They could yet finish third as they begin the final day sitting ahead of Atletico Madrid on goals scored.

Atletico head into this one on the back of beating Girona by a goal to nil last weekend in Antoine Griezmann’s final home game for Los Rojiblancos. They have won four of their last five matches since turning their attention back to domestic matters after their elimination from the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Arsenal.

Atletico are much more entertaining than they used to be, Villarreal could do with showing their fans a bit more flair and thrill – and so a fun watch for the neutral in a game that doesn’t mean too much would seem a good bet.

Villarreal vs Atletico Madrid tip: Over 2.5 goals
