Vanuatu vs Fiji prediction

These two sides faced off against each other in a friendly last week with Vanuatu coming out slender winners as they defeated Fiji by two goals to one.

That victory means that Vanuatu have now enjoyed four successive wins, albeit one of those involved defeating Papua New Guinea on penalties in November. They have lost just twice, against PNG and the Solomon Islands, since being knocked out in the group stages of OFC qualification for the FIFA World Cup in the autumn 2024.

In that qualifying campaign, Fiji reached the semi-final, beaten 7-0 by New Zealand in March. They have since suffered five defeats with one win, against PNG’s U20 side and shared one draw, against the Solomon Islands, in their last seven matches.

Fiji and Vanuatu do appear to be relatively evenly matched but, as was the case last week, Vanuatu should again be favoured to come out on top at the VFF Freshwater Stadium in Port Vila, Vanuatu.
