Breanna Stewart led the way for Team USA in their demolition job of Czechia last time out. The New York Liberty icon accumulated 19 points and USA 105 as they thrashed the Europeans by a margin of 41 points. Caitlin Clark was prominent as well with seven assists as the American super squad bared its teeth. It was a strong response to an under-par performance vs Italy and sees them enter the quarter-finals with momentum on their side.
Hungary got the better of Japan in the qualification round, winning 84-63 against Japan. They’ve now won their last three since losing vs France, but in USA they will face by far their biggest test. To keep a team with such incredible attacking weapons and clutch players within the squad quiet will be nigh-on impossible.
The USA are not known as a super squad for no reason and their ability to score relentlessly from anywhere on the court makes them favourites against anyone they play. Ultimately, they should outclass Hungary in the same way France did and win by a large margin.
