It looked for a while like Australia were on their way to a comprehensive win in their qualification round match against Italy. But an incredible fourth quarter rally by the Italians left the Opals sweating right down to the final buzzer, with Australia just about holding on for an 80-82 victory. Spain will be aware of how well Australia started that game, but also how badly they finished it and with ample rest time, they’ll be confident of securing an advantage when it comes to fitness and durability.
Spain haven’t had it all their own way across the tournament so well. However, they boast some real game changers and can pull away from Australia very quickly if they are at their best. The likelihood though is that this will be a very tight game. Having said that, back the European side to come through and reach the semi-finals.
