Dustin Jacoby: “The Hanyak” on a serious run on the backend of his UFC career
Dustin Jacoby (22-9-1) is as seasoned as they come at 205, sitting at 10-6-1 across his 17 UFC appearances. The 38-year-old is on a three fight win streak over Vitor Petrino, Bruno Lopes, and Julius Walker, and outside of a decision loss to Alonzo Menifield, he’s only ever been beaten by the better names of this division. A high-level kickboxer by trade who does the bulk of his damage with his boxing, Jacoby carries serious power, a stiff jab that’s stung many opponents, excellent cardio management, and the fight IQ to follow a game plan to the T.
Muhammad Said: Undefeated KO artist steps up to the big leagues
Muhammad Said (9-0) makes his promotional debut having stopped eight of his nine professional opponents, most recently blitzing through former UFC light heavyweight Luis Henrique da Silva in just 63 seconds. The Russian is the flashier and more dynamic striker of the two, patient at range before unloading fast, heavy kicks to all levels, with a stack of head kick knockouts on his resume. Quick hands, strong knees in the clinch, judo throws, and a good sprawl leaves Said with a desirable skillset for the division. The concerns are the level of opposition that he’s faced, as well as his power diminishing as the fight goes on.

Said’s best chance is to get Jacoby out early in the opening round. His power is at its most dangerous early and noticeably drops off by the second round, and he’s never recorded a finish in the third. Jacoby is at his most explosive early too, but he can afford to be patient, and his power carries through the rounds slightly better. He fights at a consistent pace, rarely slows down his volume and approach, and tends to take fights over late.
Said fights orthodox and Jacoby can box out of both, so matching in the orthodox stance would take away the body kick, but it does hand Said the calf kick and make the head kick much harder to see coming. That’s a genuine danger for Jacoby in this match up. Jacoby does have good survivability, he’s absorbed heavy shots without looking too rocked before, but we’ve not seen him eat a clean head kick lately, and Said can whip them up crazy fast.
Dustin’s takedown defence is solid, and even when he is taken down, he’s able to work his way back up in a blink, so this fight should stay standing. We’ve not seen Jacoby share the cage with a striker this dynamic, but the experience and cardio should carry him through. Either way, neither of these guys have any interest in what the judges will have to say.
