Torreense vs Sunderland prediction

Having qualified for the UEFA Europa League by winning Taca de Portugal last season, second division Torreense began their league phase campaign with an impressive 2-1 defeat of Lillestrom in Norway a few weeks ago. They have won just one of their seven games in the league this season and sit 15th in the 18th LigaPro table in Portugal.

Regis Le Bris’ Sunderland got their European campaign underway with a slender 1-0 defeat of AZ Alkmaar at the Stadium of Light with a second half penalty scored by Enzo Le Fee. The Black Cats have been stodgier domestically and were beaten 2-0 by ten-man Brighton and Hove Albion at the weekend.

Despite underperformance in the league, Sunderland simply have to be firm favourites and view this as a brilliant opportunity to begin their European campaign with back-to-back victories.

Torreense vs Sunderland tip: Sunderland to win
