This should be a fascinating clash between world number 10 Taylor Fritz and number 12 Alex de Minaur, both of whom will be targeting a top eight finish this season. 24-year-old De Minaur carries the weight of a nation on his shoulders at the United Cup and that looked to have affected his performance against Great Britain’s Cam Norrie on Friday as he just lost out in a deciding tiebreak to see Australia end up 1-2 losers in front of their own fans. The Perth crowd will do their utmost to fuel the Aussie number one in this must-win clash but Fritz beat Norrie in tight straight sets on Sunday to look the form player in this eight meeting between the two, with De Minaur currently leading 4-3. The pair shared three sets in De Minaur’s victory over Fritz en-route to the Canada Masters final in August but the pair have seen at least one tiebreak in six of their seven meetings, offering an excellent alternative to picking a result from this very tough clash.
