World number seven Stefanos Tsitsipas recently returned to form to lift a third Monte-Carlo Masters title, becoming just the second player this year to best Jannik Sinner before beating Casper Ruud in the final. The 25-year-old made it 10 wins on the spin to reach the Barcelona final last week but then fell to an inspired, vengeful Ruud in straight sets to make it a wholly weird 0-11 in ATP 500 finals on tour. World number 118 Dusan Lajovic grabbed one of his best results in recent years with a straight-sets victory over Dusan Lajovic, who failed to find the level that saw him take Tsitsipas to three sets in the semi-finals last week in Barcelona, but this should be several leagues too far for the Brazilian. It will be interesting to see which version of the currently erratic Greek takes to court in Madrid but he can be backed to roll through this opener in straight sets.
