22-year-old Thiago Agustin Tirante will break inside the top 100 for the first time after ousting Brazilian wunderkind Joao Fonseca in tight straight sets on Tuesday. The Argentine has enjoyed some decent results on clay this season, notably taking up-and-coming Facundo Diaz Acosta to three before defeat at this stage of Cordoba three weeks ago, and he looks well capable of making a rare quarter-final against this version of Corentin Moutet, who came in ranked 140th after a tough period suffering with injuries over the last year. 24-year-old Moutet is very handy on clay at his best, with a three-set victory over Roberto Carballes Baena a strong way to start his campaign in Santiago, but home-from-home advantage should bolster Tirante in this first encounter between the two.
