THE PREDICTION
Former world number three Stan Wawrinka came back from a set down to stun in-form Tallon Griekspoor on Monday and he will take some beating this week. The 38-year-old claimed his only Masters title here back in 2014 soon after winning the first of his three Grand Slam titles at the Australian Open and a year later he became one of only three players to win Roland-Garros since Rafael Nadal claimed his first in 2005. World number 10 Taylor Fritz will have his hands full on his least favourite surface here but he has gathered some useful matches in the doubles alongside Holger Rune to at least get a feel for the courts. The 25-year-old reached back-to-back quarter-finals on the Sunshine Double and he has reached the last eight in each of his last six tournaments, including lifting his fifth ATP title at the Delray Beach Open in February. Wawrinka leads this head-to-head record 2-0 but the pair have not met since late 2018, since when Wawrinka has certainly not got any younger. Three sets seem likely here but Fritz should be able to eventually come through for a first victory over the Swiss.
