THE PREDICTION
World number 32 Sebastian Baez failed to defend his maiden ATP title at the Estoril Open in a humbling defeat to Casper Ruud on Friday but the Argentine claimed his second title only recently at the Cordoba Open. 22-year-old Baez reached a final, semi-final and quarter-final across his four tournaments on the South American clay swing in February to suggest he is the favourite in this first meeting with fellow youngster Jack Draper, with the conditions certainly better suiting the Argentine. However, 21-year-old Draper is a serious anomaly at world number 61 as he looked in excellent form at Indian Wells before an injury saw him retire in the second set of a round of 16 clash with eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz. Draper’s powerful lefty game is a tough force to meet for a first time and that suggests this match could see three sets before a winner is found. Given Baez’s poor defeat last time out, back Draper to earn at least a set here and leave the victor up to chance.
