World number 82 Roberto Carballes Baena was handed an early rest on Thursday when Dimitar Kuzmanov retired injured just two games into their round of 16 match. The Spaniard came back from a set down to stun fifth seed Maxime Cressy on Tuesday and he has looked in decent shape so far this season on hardcourts to suggest he may find some strong form on his favoured clay over the next few months. 26-year-old Tallon Griekspoor set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 35th this week, though, after enjoying the best season of his career so far. The Dutchman has only lost to top 10 quality opponents this year, which he started by claiming his maiden ATP title at the Maharashta Open, but he survived an early scare here in Marrakech in a comeback victory over Elias Ymer on Thursday. The conditions suit RCB best here but Griekspoor is a pretty solid all-courter and the player with much better form. Back Griekspoor to win outright here or consider taking Carballes Baena to earn at least a set to leave the victor up to chance.
