World number 58 Nicolas Jarry upset an out-of-sorts Borna Coric in straight sets on Sunday to continue his excellent, potentially resurgent form on clay this season. The 27-year-old broke inside the top 40 on tour before the pandemic but he has since spent several years in the wilderness until an excellent South American clay swing in February saw him claim his second career ATP title at the Chile Open. World number 94 Alexei Popyrin twice had to come back from sets down in qualifying to scrape through to the main draw but he looked in good shape on Monday when beating former finalist Dusan Lajovic in two. A first meeting between the two is an excellent opportunity for both players to make a rare foray into the third round of a Masters event but back Jarry to earn at least a set here as the likelier to win in these conditions.
