THE PREDICTION
21-year-old Yunchaokete Bu will make his main tour debut here in Shanghai with a wildcard off the back of a run to the semi-finals of the Guangzhou Challenger last month. The Chinese has enjoyed some excellent results on the ITF and Challenger circuit over the last 12 months to bring some real expectation into Shanghai but despite home advantage this looks too steep a challenge. World number 46 Miomir Kecmanovic is, admittedly, enduring a tough spell on tour but the Serb has finished runner-up twice this season, to Taylor Fritz at Delray Beach and Casper Ruud in Estoril, amidst some odd runs of poor form. Kecmanovic took a set in defeat to eventual champion Alexander Zverev at the Chengdu Open last week to look strong enough to avoid an upset here but consider a one-off on Bu to earn at least a set, or for at least a tiebreak in the match, considering anything in favour of the Serb is probably not worth following.
