Peyton Stearns vs Emiliana Arango prediction
Peyton Stearns arrives in Guadalajara looking to respond after a first-round exit at the US Open, where she took the opening set against Harriet Dart before falling to a 3-6 6-3 6-2 defeat. Her form leading into New York was mixed; Stearns beat Dart in Cincinnati before losing a tight three set contest with Clara Tauson, while she had previously suffered an opening round defeat to Elena-Gabriela Ruse in Montreal. She does have a title to her name this season, following her success at the ATX Open earlier in the year.
Emiliana Arango also suffered a first-round exit at the US Open, losing in straight sets to Xinyu Wang. There were more encouraging signs in Cincinnati, with Arango qualifying and then winning her first-round match against Venus Williams, before a loss to Iga Swiatek. She did compete in the WTA 125 event in Barranquilla as the top seed, but lost in the round-of-16 to Carol Young Suh Lee. She impressed at this event last year, reaching the final but losing to Iva Jovic.
Arango’s recent record here commands respect, but Stearns has produced the better hard court results in 2026.
