THE PREDICTION
World number 46 Miomir Kecmanovic enjoyed his best tennis yet across the Sunshine Double two years ago, losing to eventual champions Taylor Fritz and Carlos Alcaraz in three sets apiece at Indian Wells and the Miami Open, respectively. The 24-year-old cuts a frustrating figure on court, clearly capable of a much higher level than his current ranking suggests but often struggling to maintain intensity, and he brings a two-match losing streak into this tough opener against bright young thing Jerry Shang.
19-year-old Shang brings a career-high ATP world ranking of 124th into Miami on a wildcard after a decent run to the second round at Indian Wells, with his best showing this season a promising run to the third round at the Australian Open. The Chinese also reached the semi-finals of the Hong Kong Open at the start of the year, taking a set from eventual champion Andrey Rublev before defeat, to prove his credentials but Kecmanovic remains the slight favourite on potential in these conditions. Back the Serb to earn at least a set inside an accumulator or risk the outright win on its own.
TIP: MIOMIR KECMANOVIC TO WIN
