THE PREDICTION

23-year-old Alejandro Davidovich Fokina came into the Estoril Open at a career-high ATP world ranking of 24th after some deceptively string form over the last few months and he looks the reasonable favourite to lift a maiden ATP title this weekend. The Spaniard survived a potential upset on Wednesday with a straight-sets victory over Luca Van Assche and he should be better for it after transitioning from hardcourts to his favoured clay in this first meeting with veteran Marco Cecchinato. World number 94 Cecchinato is always a tough test in these conditions and he proved it on Wednesday with a spirited comeback over fellow Italian Fabio Fognini to back up an excellent win over Diego Schwartzman. Three sets are certainly a possibility here given the Italian’s momentum so take ADF to win outright inside an accumulator or in straight sets on its own.
