This is a huge opportunity for one of world number 217 Katarzyna Kawa and number 125 Lucrezia Stefanini to reach a rare tour-level quarter-final. 25-year-old Stefanini came back from a set down to beat fellow Italian Camilla Rosatello on Monday in her first WTA match since early August as she continues to struggle staying on the tour. 20-year-old Kawa bagged the best result of her year on Tuesday with a three-set upset over third seed Martins Trevisan, although the Italian is not always close to her best on a hardcourt. Kawa has enjoyed some strong form on the Challenger circuit in recent weeks to bring the better form into this first encounter but Stefanini has the higher ceiling at her best.
