LIUDMILA SAMSONOVA VS MAGDA LINETTE PREDICTION
World number 17 Liudmila Samsonova finally found her feet on clay this swing with an excellent run to the semi-finals of the Strasbourg Open last week, upsetting Barbora Krejcikova, Leylah Fernandez and Beatriz Haddad-Maia before defeat to eventual champion Madison Keys.
The 25-year-old is at her best on the faster surfaces but she can be a serious threat to top players anywhere once she finds her elusive best level and she looks the favourite in this likely three-set battle with world number 46 Magda Linette.
32-year-old Linette finished runner-up to Sloane Stephens at the Rouen Open on French clay early last month and she has been competitive on the surface since. The Pole also enjoyed two strong wins in Strasbourg before a similarly one-sided exit to Keys but she lost to Samsonova in straight sets in their only previous encounter in 2022. Back Samsonova to edge through.
