THE PREDICTION
This should be a fascinating first meeting between contemporaries Jack Draper and Jiri Lehecka, both 22, on Saturday. World number 62 Draper is through to his second ATP final on the spin after finishing runner-up to Adrian Mannarino at the Sofia Open last November and he has beaten a serious cavalcade of players to do so, most impressively avenging his Davis Cup Finals defeat to Miomir Kecmanovic in the round of 16, blasting past top seed Tommy Paul, and overcoming in-form Alexander Bublik on Friday. World number 32 Lehecka has rebuilt some confidence on court this week after ending 2023 in a bit of disarray. The Czech reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open this time last season before defeat to eventual runner-up Stefanos Tsitsipas and he too is through to a second ATP final after, notably, also finishing runner-up to Mannarino at Winston-Salem in August.
Results over Sebastian Korda and Nicolas Jarry are impressive scalps indeed for Lehecka but Draper has arguably battled harder this week and his success at the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, whilst largely insignificant to real tour tennis, gives him some of the best recent form of anybody on tour. Back the exciting young Brit to win his first title.
