THE PREDICTION
It remains to be seen if Great Britain can get a point on the board from the two singles rubbers to keep this doubles clash live but every match is important at this stage of the United Cup. Team GB may well come in 0-2 down but they may have the last laugh in the doubles with talisman Dan Evans, who partnered so well with Neal Skupski at the Davis Cup last September, looking fit enough to play. Doubles number four Neal Skupski is also an excellent option, particularly as Katie Boulter is also a very strong server, but the competitive edge that Evans provides could be the key factor in seeing him preferred. Australia will have to decide between their double stalwart, Matthew Ebden, and a likely pumped Alex de Minaur but the key factor in this match could be doubles number two Storm Hunter, who finished runner-up at Wimbledon and won two Masters titles last season alongside Elise Mertens.
With so many players set to jostle for selection here it is probably worth holding off on this match until the singles results are in. Otherwise, back the likeliest pairing of Ebden and Hunter to earn at least a set to leave the victors up to chance.
