THE PREDICTION

World number 15 Frances Tiafoe faces an excellent chance at lifting the second ATP title of his career on Sunday if he can handle two matches in a day for the second day running. It is a miracle that the Houston Open looks set to conclude today after seeing most of the first few days totally rained out and all of the remaining four players will be feeling it after playing all or most of their round of 16 and quarter-final matches on Saturday. Tiafoe beat Steve Johnson and Jason Kubler in straight sets apiece to at least limit his time on court and he looks the clear favourite amongst the remaining players to succeed later today in the final. 27-year-old Gijs Brouwer will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of around 101st if he claims a career-best win here but despite some excellent results over John Isner and J.J. Wolf on Saturday it would be a surprise to see Tiafoe slip up here. Back the American to win in straight sets ahead of a likely slog in the final.
