THE PREDICTION

World number 17 Felix Auger-Aliassime beat Sebastian Ofner handily on Wednesday to claim back-to-back wins on tour for the first time since Indian Wells in March. The 23-year-old won three of his four ATP titles in quick succession this time last year but after enduring his first real period of poor fitness and form in 2023 he is far from his best level. World number 79 Marcos Giron often bursts into life at this time of year and he proved that to be the case on Wednesday by upsetting second seed Casper Ruud in straight sets. The 30-year-old overcame Japanese number one Yoshihito Nishioka in three tight sets for a hugely impressive opener on Monday and his recent performances make him a real threat to Auger-Aliassime’s very vulnerable game. The Canadian leads Giron 3-0 in their head-to-head but Giron did take a set from their last encounter at last season’s Halle Open. Take the American to earn at least a set outside of an accumulator or Auger-Aliassime to do the same inside of one.
