THE PREDICTION

World number three Stefanos Tsitsipas played down his chances of achieving anything of note at the ‘Sunshine Double’ this month after coming into Indian Wells injured and he promptly lost at the first opportunity to Jordan Thompson two weeks ago. The 24-year-old feels in better shape this week and he was afforded an extra day’s rest after Richard Gasquet was forced to withdraw from their scheduled match on Saturday. This is a significant test against a tentatively resurgent Cristian Garin, though, as the Chilean has looked increasingly confident over the last few weeks. The former world number 17 has spent much of the last two seasons in the wilderness aside from brief flashes of his former glory but two wins over Marcos Giron and Sebastian Baez so far in Miami is great momentum to face Tsitsipas with. The Greek is a tough player to predict right now, particularly with his erratic confidence, but he leads Garin 2-0 in their head-to-head having never dropped a set to the Chilean. Leave this tough call out of an accumulator but otherwise back Garin to earn his first set against Tsitsipas and leave the victor up to chance.
