THE PREDICTION
World number 15 Karen Khachanov has endured a series of frustrating injury setbacks this season but the tennis he has been able to produce when fit and firing has been some of his best. The 27-year-old reached the quarter-finals of the Paris Masters last week, where he won his most prestigious of now five ATP titles in 2018, before defeat to Stefanos Tsitsipas and he looks a real dark horse for the title here in Metz after winning the Zhuhai 250 in September. World number 90 Constant Lestienne beat qualifier Calvin Hemery comfortably on Monday but this should be too steep of a challenge. 31-year-old Lestienne will draw the partisan support as the home hopeful with a backable, if totally unorthodox, game but Khachanov should be too solid to be scuppered here. The Russian needed five sets to oust Lestienne at Roland-Garros back in May but he can be backed to win in straight sets here.
BETTING TIP: KAREN KHACHANOV TO WIN 2-0
