This match looks a serious candidate for five sets as world number 116 Christopher Eubanks and number 71 Jiri Lehecka meet for the first time, both in good form. 21-year-old Lehecka provided one of the shocks of the tournament so far when he stunned Borna Coric in three sets on Monday and the Czech ended last season with a statement as runner-up to Brandon Nakashima at the Next Gen ATP Finals. Not to be outdone, 26-year-old Eubanks also provided an upset on Monday with a five-set epic over Soonwoo Kwon, who had come in hot from winning the Auckland Classic last week. Eubanks ended last season in strong form too, reaching back-to-back Challenger finals as well as reaching this stage of the US Open before a solid performance in defeat to Jannik Sinner. Lehecka’s victory over 21st seed Coric is the stand-out result here but Eubanks will be battle-hardened by his five-setter. Back the Czech to earn at least two sets as the likelier of two very capable winners or take a one-off punt on this match to need a deciding set.
