CAMERON NORRIE VS PAVEL KOTOV PREDICTION
World number 33 Cam Norrie has needed top 30 players to oust him from each of his last five tournaments to suggest he is the reasonable favourite here but Pavel Kotov brings some strong form on clay.
26-year-old Kotov set a career-high ATP world ranking of 56th this week after a run to the quarter-finals of the Lyon Open, where he beat two clay-court aficionados before a tight three-set exit to Alexander Bublik. 28-year-old Norrie beat the Russian in straight sets on clay last spring in Barcelona, and he beat Carlos Alcaraz to win the Rio 500 earlier last year to prove his credentials on this surface, but the Brit has struggled to find consistent form for much of the past two seasons.
Recent results on clay suggest Kotov could cause an upset if he brings his best to this clash but taking both players to win a set feels the sensible way to avoid a result.
